RefWorks

RefWorks is a web-based citation manager you can use wherever you have an internet connection. It gives you an online workspace to save citations you find while doing research. RefWorks also provides users with tools that you can use to format papers.

Importing Citations from ScienceDirect

Import citations directly from ScienceDirect! Here's how:

  1. From the search results page, select the citation you want to import into Refworks. Then click Export near the top of the search results page or underneath the citation.


     
  2. Click on RIS Format. Then download and save the file.  


     
  3.  Log into your RefWorks account and click on Add, then select Import References.


     
  4. Select Import from a File and drop or select a file from your computer. 



    5. Select RIS Format as your file format and click on Import.



    6. Optional: Select the folder(s) you wish your references to be imported into then click on Import.
    ** You do not need to import into a folder, but it is recommended to help keep your citations organized and easy to find. **



    7. Congratulations! You have successfully imported your references into your citation manager RefWorks!
