Visual Effects

It's a great idea to use visual transitions between video clips and also on many other visual elements, such as static images and other graphics. It makes the video appear much smoother. Navigate to Transitions on the left side bar and choose your preferred transition style. Drag the effect to the desired video clip, static image or graphic element.

You can use the highlighting tool to focus visual attention on particular portion of the presentation. From the Annotations menu on the left side bar, click on the highlight effect and drag it to the track above the video track. Position it to the point in the area of the video in which you want the effect to appear. You can adjust the highlight position, size, and duration. For best effect, use a transition effect so that the highlight appears and disappears smoothly.

You can use the callout tool to focus visual attention on particular portion of the presentation and also as a labelling tool. From the Annotations menu on the left side bar, click on the callout effect and drag it to the track above the video track. Position it to the point in the area of the video in which you want the effect to appear. You can adjust the highlight position, size, and duration. You can use the color picker to match the color of the callout to a particular part of the video. For best effect, use a transition effect so that the callout appears and disappears smoothly.

You can also use callouts to create blocks of text on the screen.

The blur feature is useful for when you'd like to obscure a certain part of the video, for instance your login credentials.

1. Click on annotations then locate blur (tear drop).

2. Drag and drop the blur over the section of the video you'd like to add it to. You can adjust the time the blur lasts by dragging the ends of the blur.

3. Drag and adjust the blur on the Camtasia preview screen.
