Author level metrics are intended to provide a measure of impact of one particular author. Most author level metrics incorporate citation counts of articles written.
Citation counts can be analyzed for both an individual article or aggregated to provide a total for all articles for a given author.
h-index provides a measure of author productivity and impact. The h-index attempts to avoid some of the biases inherent in counts of citations and/or publications. For full details about the h-index, check out Hirsch's article proposing the h-index.
Search Google Scholar for an author. If a user profile matches, you will see links to potential profiles.
